I was delighted to be invited to be a judge for the annual competition again this year. The four Businesses pitched really well and the overall standard was excellent. Sadly there can be only one winner of the £1500 and I just hope all four Businesses become successful as they will deserve to be so. Well done to them all and congratulations to the winners – Equilateral Media.

All sorts of stuff – very excited by a new contract starting on 1st Feb which I think will be challenging and inspiring!

Very sad that Business Leaders headed by Vernon, Mike and Jen is not going to take-off. They were going to provide a much needed service following the end of Business Link. I wish the three of them well for the future.

Enjoyed an extremely busy January which proved to be a really good, productive and useful month and now I am looking forward to February with lots of new connections, my new contract, Chairing the Leeds Met Business Concept Competition, speaking in Sheffield and presenting a Business Start Up workshop at Leeds Met.

It is not often that two contracts come to an end in quick succession, but it has happened!!

Harrogate Men’s Forum – thank you

I really enjoyed speaking to Harrogate Men’s Forum this week – what a lovely group of people and very generous as they donated £25 to Candlelighters – thank you!!

Last two Business Link Yorkshire events next week – very emotional as they have given fantastic support to so many Businesses throughout Yorkshire and I have so much enjoyed delivering events for them. I will be very sad to see them close.

I made a return visit to speak at Collingham Supper Club and they kindly donated £50 to Candlelighters and, on my first visit to speak to Calverley Retired Men’s Forum they donated £30 to this wonderful charity. Thank you to both; I really enjoyed my time with you and your generous donations have now been forwarded to Candlelighters.

October is proving to be another busy month although a long weekend break in Bruges is looming!

Busy Business Link

As Business Link draws to a close (25th November) events are being fully booked up as everyone tries to take advantage of this great service before it disappears. If you are interested in attending an event please look at the Business Link Yorkshire Events site for a full listing. My advice is that if the event you wish to attend is fully booked up take a chance and turn up as very often some of those who are booked cannot attend and so spaces will be available.

September is proving to be a very busy month with Business Link events, a project at Santander, further speaking engagements and planning for what looks like will be an even busier October which will include a return to Leeds Metropolitan University to speak on 19th October.

Summer Rain!

I think summer 2011 came and went in April – sadly! On the positive side we have had one more bbq than last year – that is two against one!

At least things are bright and sunny on the work and speaking front and long may opportunity continue. Back working on a project with some old friends at Santander, very busy with Business Link Yorkshire who sadly close in November (book an event now as they won’t be there after November!) a number of workshops on the go elsewhere and a few very enjoyable speaking engagements with all proceeds to Candlelighters – thank you.

If you are in Yorkshire and are starting up or have a growing Business and need some advice or support please make contact. If we can’t help you we will know someone who can.

A big thank you to Bramley History Society and Bingley Janus Society for generous donations to Candlelighters Childrens Cancer Charity following my talks to each Society. I thoroughly enjoyed both events thank you and look forward to seeing you again in the future.

June has been another busy month – HSBC and Marsh courtesy of Huntswood, Santander (great to be back and meeting many friends again) via DSW and Business Link Yorkshire where events are being tremendously well attended.

The rest of this year looks great so thanks to all for the opportunities. The only things missing are sunshine and some Olympic Tickets!!
